Your 2-Day Deschutes River Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Launch & Legend (Trout Creek to Riverside Camp)
Meet in the morning, get outfitted, and launch at Trout Creek into the Wild & Scenic Lower Deschutes Canyon. Your guides will cover a clear, family-friendly safety talk and get everyone comfortable paddling as a team. Soon the fun begins with classic rapids like Whitehorse, a splashy, confidence-building start that sets the tone for the trip. Between rapids we float past lava rock walls, quiet riffles, and shady banks that invite a first swim.
By late afternoon we pull into a sandy beach camp. While guides set up camp, you can explore, skip rocks, cast a line, or just breathe in that high-desert air. Dinner is a gourmet riverside meal, followed by campfire stories and big-sky stargazing, the kind that turn a river into a legend for your kids.
Day 2: Deep Canyon Discovery & The Big Rapids (Camp to Take-Out)
Wake up to hot coffee and a peaceful canyon morning. After a hearty breakfast, we break camp and float deeper into the Deschutes corridor where the scenery grows bigger and the wildlife gets bolder. Keep your eyes open for bighorn sheep on the cliffs and raptors riding the thermals overhead. The day mixes playful Class II–III rapids with long, scenic drifts that are perfect for conversation, photos, and learning the natural history of the canyon.
Later, the river serves up a final run of iconic whitewater. Splashy sequences like Boxcar deliver the perfect finale: exciting, not overwhelming, and a total crowd-pleaser for families. We cap the trip with one more scenic stretch and a last chance to soak up the canyon before take-out in Maupin.
Take-Out Location (Flow Dependent): We take out at Maupin City Park or Sandy Beach, depending on river flow, time of year, weather, and on-river timing. Your guides will confirm the exact take-out plan during the trip so everything stays smooth and stress-free.

What Guests Are Saying
“I just went on a two day rafting trip on the Deschutes River with four of my friends. Of course, the scenery, weather and River were fabulous. What was even more astounding, was the level of service, quality and absolute gentlemenliness of Georg and his crew! This was like being on a five star cruise with gourmet food, everything taken care of and entertaining conversations with our guide, who is also the owner of the company. I could not recommend this company more! Kudos!” – Alex K.
