History & Setting
This stretch of the Upper Klamath is as historic as it is wild. Long before commercial rafting, these canyons were traveled by Indigenous peoples, traders, and later miners and settlers moving through the region. The name “Hells Corner” reflects the fierce rapids and dramatic volcanic geology that challenged early travelers and still defines this run today.
Klamath River restoration is bringing new attention back to the corridor and returning full flow to sections that haven’t run in generations. Hell’s Corner is the classic, fast-moving Upper Klamath canyon run. The newly reawakened Kikacéki (Ward’s Canyon) reach offers a different kind of adventure. Want the full story? Check out our Upper Klamath 2-Day or 3-Day Expedition, both reaches, more exploration, and a deeper river experience.
