The Owyhee River is a springtime gem. Born in the mountains of northern Nevada, then flowing north across southeastern Oregon before joining the Snake River near the Idaho border.
On the water, you’ll float through a spectacular canyon corridor with towering volcanic walls, red-rock spires, and constantly changing geology. Along the way we pass iconic landscapes like the Honeycombs, Chalk Basin, and Leslie Gulch, with opportunities to see historic petroglyphs that add powerful context to this place.

Season / When to Go
The Owyhee is a rare springtime river with a short, highly seasonal window. It is typically runnable from April through May, and in low-water years often only in April. That brief opportunity is exactly what makes this trip so special: crisp canyon days, green riverbanks, fewer crowds, and long evenings beneath a dark-sky desert.
Spring is the ideal time for a premium, all-inclusive Owyhee River rafting getaway. Expect comfortable camps, chef-quality meals, and plenty of time for side hikes, hot-spring attempts (conditions permitting), and stories around the fire. If Oregon’s “Grand Canyon” is on your bucket list, book early and stay flexible.
Enjoy the Hot Springs
One of the Owyhee’s best rewards is ending a river day with a soak. There are several hot springs along the corridor, some right on the river, others a short walk away. We build time into the itinerary to visit as many as conditions allow.
Depending on flows, timing, and weather, we may soak at Echo Rock, Snively, Greely, and Three Forks Hot Springs.
Hot springs visits are not guaranteed and depend on river and site conditions.
